Things to do in Milton, FL

About thirty minutes from Pensacola, lies Milton, FL, a small town located in Santa Rosa County. Milton, FL offers access to Coldwater, Blackwater, and Sweetwater waterways. Here are a few of our favorite things to do in Milton, FL.

As we arrived into town we stopped by the Milton Bakery and gorged on cinnamon twists, nutmeg fudge drops, and donuts! The bakery is locally owned and operated and the ladies are sweet as pie! We sampled so many goodies!

Historic Milton

As we entered downtown, historic Milton, we were transported back in time. This tiny yet charming town, reminds me of Fairhope, AL in a way! We decided to stroll along the North Riverwalk and enjoy the scenic views. Also on the riverbank, is the veteran’s memorial park complete with mementos from every American-involved war. It’s a beautiful tribute to our soldiers: active, fallen, and retired.

We also found an old post office that is currently being transformed into Brew’s Angels brewpub. We cannot wait to check it out when it’s complete!

Things to do in Milton, FL : EATING

Some of our favorite restaurants here are Boomerang Pizza Kitchen, Grover T’s BBQ, and B Dubbs for their beer selection. We loved Boomerang for its old fashion setup. The gift shop area has fudge-sampling counters and memorabilia from the 50’s. It is like being at your grandmother’s home.

Things to do in Milton, FL : Outdoor Activities

Our favorite things to do in Milton, FL is be outside! There are many outdoor things to do in Milton, FL. Adventures Unlimited offers overnight camping on the riverbanks, beach bonfires, zip lining, and canoe trips. We have been hiking on the Blackwater Heritage State Trail Milton Trail head with our pups. A lot of the trail is paved for the many cyclists that come through. Once you’ve scuttled a few miles, you find yourself on the dirt path and away from civilization. Ahh relaxation!

Right now, there is “Milton in May” where local events take place each week for the residents of Milton. Over the summer, there is a live music scene called “Bands on the Blackwater” for families to gather around and socialize. Check this website out for a complete musical lineup! There are also free movies every weekend in a square of downtown Milton.

This sleepy town is undergoing reconstruction and finding its way into the 21st century. There are loads of hipster murals and new-age restaurants underway. I can’t wait to see what becomes of Milton, FL.

Though this town may be quaint, it offers a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of Pensacola, FL. The timeless atmosphere and outdoor beauty, provides plenty of things to do in Milton, FL for a nice weekend getaway.
